RoHS Directive
(Restriction
of Hazardous Substances)
The Directive
The
Restriction of Hazardous Substances
(RoHS) Directive aims to minimise the
environmental impact of waste
electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
by reducing the quantities of four
heavy metals and two brominated flame
retardants which it can contain.
From
1 July 2006 products placed on the EU
market may not contain more than the
specified limits of lead, cadmium,
mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and
polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
